Body: Depressed globose, to globose, solitary or clumping at older age, 20-60 mm high and 30-50 mm in diameter. Sunken apex, covered with wool and spines.
Roots: Carrot root.
Sap: Without latex.
Tubercles: Closely set, soft, short cylindrical with rounded tips, 7-9 mm long and 4-5 mm in diameter, dark gray-green.
Axils: Naked or with little wool.
Radial Spines: 18-26, 4-10 mm long, fine bristle like, straight or curving,glatt, irregular radiating, glassy yellow.
Central Spines: 1, 8-11 mm long, fine needle like, hooked, longest and hooked, with thicker brown base, glassy yellow to brown .
Flower: Funnel form, 14-16 mm long and wide, cream to white colored.
Fruit: Ripens 2-3 months after flowering, slender club-shaped with flower rest, 12-18 mm long and 2-4 mm thick, vermillion red.
Seed: Black, balloon shaped, 1 mm long and thick; hilum basal and dull brown, selffertile.
Habitat Substrate: Between silicat volcanic rocks, under bush in black humus in partial shade.PH:5. In habitat only 1-3 hours of full sun.
Geographic Distribution: Mexico; Hidalgo, Meztitlan. Altitude 1600 meter.
